Access Your Test Results

Results Of Tests And Investigations

When you attend for a test of any kind the GP or nurse will be able to advise you how long it will take for the practice to receive the results. When the practice receives test results the GP/Nurse will decide if any further action is required. If you need a prescription, an appointment or any further tests, we will contact you to advise you. You will not be contacted if your result is normal.

The most efficient way to access test results is via the NHS App or online services. If you need to discuss your results please telephone the surgery to make an appointment.

The Care Navigation Team can provide you with results however, they are not qualified to interpret or comment on results. They will provide you with comments / information added by the doctor or nurse at the time the results were filed. There may be occasions where you are asked to speak to the nurse or doctor.

We have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them

If the test was arranged by your hospital consultant
If your test has been carried out at a Clinic or Hospital please call the Clinic or Hospital for the result, as we cannot action tests which have been requested by other Clinicians outside of the practice. If the consultant’s secretary or colleague inform you they will send the results to your GP, explain that you want the results from the specialist who arranged them who is in by far the best place to give appropriate advice.

Our staff are not qualified to comment on results therefore it is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the Doctor.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
