Dr Deepika Ganesh
MBBS 1999, MRCGPDr Ganesh qualified in India. She joined the practice in January 2017 and has special interests in family planning and teaching She is a GP appraiser and is a specialist advisor to the Care Quality Commission
Dr Mark Hammatt
MBChB MRCGPDr Hammatt qualified from Leeds Medical School in 1990. He joined the practice in 1999 having spent a few years working in Australia. Dr Hammatt plays a key role in supporting and teaching young doctors and undergraduate medical students. He also has a lead role in IT and managing electronic information in the practice.
Dr Sarah Hay
MBBS (1995 London) BSc Hons MRCGP DTM&HDr Hay joined the practice in October 2009. She has a special interest in palliative care and she has a key role in information governance for the practice. Dr Hay also works for North Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group as GP Lead for quality and clinical governance
Dr Lucy Maw
MBBS DRCOG MRCGP DFFPDr Maw qualified in 1995 from St George’s Hospital (London). She joined the practice in 2003 and is interested in ear, nose and throat problems, family planning, teenage health and women’s health matters. Dr Maw plays a key role in teaching undergraduate medical students.
Dr Sarah Peachey
MBChB Hons, MRCGPDr Peachey graduated from the University of Leeds in 2009. She joined the practice as a GP registrar in 2014 and is now a GP Partner. She has particular interest in child and Adult mental health, pain management and carers support.

Amy Cartwright
DesignationDr Cartwright graduated from the University of Leeds in 2016 after completed a BSc in Applied Health (Primary Care) in 2014 within her training years. She worked as a GP Registrar from 2020-2021 at Spa Surgery before qualifying as a GP, and has stayed on at Spa Surgery as a Salaried GP with a lead role in Cancer Care.
Matt Button
MBChB, BSc, MSc, MRCGP.Dr Button graduated from Leeds University in 2005 and then qualified as a GP in 2010. He has joined the surgery as a GP Retainer, after having taken a couple of years out of practice to study Psychology. He is currently embarking on a PhD in Psychology. His interests include patients living with mental health conditions, obesity and chronic pain.
Julie Hamilton
Dr Hamilton graduated from the University of Leeds in 2013 and went on to qualify as a GP in 2020. She joined the practice in January 2022. Dr Hamilton’s areas of interest include women’s health, mental health and joint injections.
Dr Lubna Alzabin
MBChB MRCGP‘Dr Alzabin graduated from the University of Leeds in 2016 and worked in Emergency Medicine for a number of years before coming to General Practice training in 2020. She joined the practice in April 2024. Dr Alzabin’s areas of interest include women’s health and medical education. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, farms, running, reading and a good cup of Yorkshire Tea’.
Dr Ellyn McCulloch
MBBS, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFSRH, Dip SEMDr McCulloch studied at the Middlesex Hospital and UCH in London and qualified in 1989.
Following this Dr McCulloch had house Officer jobs in North Devon and Cumbria. Dr McCulloch returned to North Devon for the next few years to do her GP training .
Since then she has worked as a GP in Cumbria, Lancashire, the Yorkshire Dales, and Harrogate.
Dr McCulloch first came to The Spa Surgery as a locum, and decided to make it her new home.
Outside of work she enjoys singing, skiing, paddle boarding , cycling , and trying to keep fit.
One of the highlights of her career was working at London 2012 as a volunteer. Dr McCulloch has been a GP for almost 30 years and has many varied interests including sports and exercise medicine and women’s health. She enjoys working with medical sturdents in the practice which keeeps her on her toes!
Dr Alexandra Waddington
LLB (Hons), MBChB, MRCGPDr Waddington completed a degree in Law from the University of Liverpool (2009) before deciding to study medicine. She graduated as a doctor from the University of Leeds in 2016 and went on to qualify as a GP in 2022, joining the practice in July 2022. Dr Waddington has a medico-legal interest and tutors Medical Law & Ethics at the University of Leeds.
Huda Al-Hassani
MBBS, Bsc, DTMH, PGCME, MRCGPDr Al-Hassani graduated from University College London in 2012. She trained in London and spent a number of years working in Oncology/Palliative Care before deciding to train to become a General Practitioner. As part of her GP training, she completed a Global Health Fellowship which involved a year of rural medicine working in South Africa and completing additional qualifications in tropical medicine. She qualified as a GP in 2021 and has a special interest in public health and enjoys teaching. Outside of work she enjoys the outdoors and adventure seeking with her husband and two boys

Dr Zoe Hopkinson
MBChB MRCGP(2003) DFSRHDr Hopkinson qualified from Glasgow University in 1995 and completed her GP training in 2003. She has worked for many years in community contraception and sexual health clinics alongside her GP work and joined the practice as a regular GP locum in 2023.
Dr Nipuna Senaratne
MA MB BChir MRGCP DRCOG DCH MSc (SEM)Dr Senaratne graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2017 and completed his GP training in Cambridge in 2022. He has completed an MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine at University College London and is currently training to become a Sport and Exercise Medicine Consultant alongside his GP work. He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Leeds where he teaches on the MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine programme. His main clinical interests are in MSK medicine, concussion and physical activity promotion. Outside of work he is a keen cricketer and enjoys hiking and running.
Advanced Care Team
Suzi Morris
BSC, MSC,Suzi joined the clinical team on 1 March 2018 as an Advanced Care Practitioner. She is a Registered Paramedic holding a MSc Practice Development: Enhancing Paramedic Practice (Merit 2017) and a BSc Paramedic Science (1st Class honours 2013). Suzi will provide urgent care and minor illness clinics at the Practice.
